HLG is the non-profit land development company for the State of Hesse. We provide building land, manage land banking, advise farmers, act as Hesse's eco-agency for nature conservation and support infrastructure and renewable-energy projects.
As a freigestelltes Institut, HLG is registered and supervised by BaFin (ID 10108393). This ensures our financial and trustee land-management activities meet strict German financial-regulatory standards.
Municipalities can commission us for building-land development through land banking (we acquire and hold land at our own risk) or business procurement (we act as agent for planning, development and marketing) — often as a "building authority on loan".
As Hesse's recognised eco-agency, HLG brokers and implements compensation measures under the Hessian Compensation Ordinance and Federal Nature Conservation Act — from orchards and hedgerows to stream renaturation projects.
Our predecessor settlement companies were founded in 1919 and merged into today's Hessische Landgesellschaft mbH in 1972 — more than a century of public land development in Hesse.
